World Summit in Reflection (The)

Available in print and online, this series of articles represents a compendium of submissions collected by Information Technologies and International Development (ITID) as a way to understand information on the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

The printed issue offers a collection of 37 essays intended for scholars, activists, practitioners or anyone who seeks to better understand the Summit. The online website, The World Summit in Reflection, has 82 papers listed and also offers the reader a way to respond online with reactions and/or critiques.

The contributors to this volume are described as representing a wide range of perspectives, regions and professions, "from the global South and the North, from sharp critics to ardent supporters, from observers based in government, the private sector, civil society, universities and international organizations." The essays are grouped by broad category including: Context and Setting; Critical Themes; Normative Frameworks; Voices and Participation; Globalization and Development; and Outcomes and Paths to Tunis.
