Special Award for Independent Media Organisations Based in a Developing Country

Administered by One World Media, the Special Award is given to recognise an independent media organisation based in the developing world, whose outstanding media content has made a real impact on people's lives. From the One World Awards website: "The Award seeks to recognise and encourage outstanding reporting that informs the public, provides an outlet for local people’s voices, creates a space for critical information, and holds those in power to account.
The 2015 One World Media Special Award winner will receive one three-week placement on a professional training program - the CNN Journalism Fellowship at CNN's headquarters in Atlanta, USA. The CNN Journalism Fellowship was launched in 1988 by CNN founder Ted Turner. More than 900 journalists from 123 countries and 207 news organisations have participated in this ... programme since its inception."
The winner will be flown to London, United Kingdom (UK) to attend the One World Media Awards ceremony.
The One World Media Awards, of which this is one category, are created to recognise the best media coverage in the UK and internationally that reflects the social, political, and cultural life of people in the wider world. The goal is to encourage excellence in media coverage that supports a greater understanding between developing and developed countries. The awards recognise the unique role of the media in bridging this divide and communicating the breadth of social, political, and cultural experiences of people across the world.
