Facts for Family Planning

Facts for Family Planning presents a collection of key information and messages for use by those who communicate to others about family planning and is primarily designed for those who communicate with men and women who are seeking information about family planning and help in selecting a family planning method.
Facts for Family Planning is modelled on the early, popular versions of Facts for Life [see Related Summaries below], a book that helped the child survival community communicate consistently about an emerging body of knowledge and best practices.
Facts for Family Planning contains the following.
"Chapter 1: Promoting Family Planning
Chapter 2: Planning for Families
Chapter 3: Delaying First Pregnancy
Chapter 4: Spacing Pregnancies
Chapter 5: Completing the Family
Chapter 6: Understanding Fertility
Chapter 7: Family Planning Methods
Chapter 8: Family Planning After Miscarriage or Abortion
Chapter 9: Unmarried Young People and Unintended Pregnancy
Chapter 10: Family Planning and Sexually Transmitted Infections, including HIV"
"Each chapter provides an overview of key facts to provide... basic information for quick reference but also delivers more in-depth supporting statistics and content to provide a comprehensive look at family planning, specifically designed for a developing country perspective.
Facts for Family Planning has been developed to facilitate the work of community health workers, counselors, and others in providing information on family planning. The content is also ...adaptable for communication strategies and outreach programs aimed at impacting a broader audience through the media and journalists."
The Knowledge for Health project, implemented through the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Communication Programs, is coordinating dissemination of this publication, available online and in print format through info@jhuccp.org.
