Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

The Commonwealth Secretariat main website serves as a central resource for the Commonwealth, a voluntary association of 54 countries that support each other and work together towards shared goals in democracy and development.

The website contains the organisation's publications, an RSS feed for news of the Commonwealth countries, and a number of social media possibilities. There are two sites focused on young people. "Young Commonwealth" presents topics of diversity, friendship, and equality through games and illustrated information pages. "Your Commonwealth" is a youth-focused site for member content through public submissions and announcements and videos of youth events and awards. Commonwealth Blogs publishes recent Secretariat and guest postings. The Secretariat launched a social media portal, "The Commonwealth Connects," to enable the two billion citizens of its 54 member states to collaborate on common issues.  Commonwealth Connects aggregates around 200 Commonwealth sites across 90 organisations.
